First Attempt

So I turned 40 this year and for some reason I've decided to try blogging. I think the main reason for this is that I find myself having things that I want to say to the world (or simply anyone who will listen), but I don't want to fill up people's news feeds on Facebook with my trivial thoughts.

Like today for example; I was biking home from work and a couple of guys riding side by side on road bikes went blasting past me on the Goose (local bike path). Why do "roadies", as my husband likes to call them, insist on riding side by side all the time? They give the rest of us cyclists a bad name.

Turning 40 has caused me to take stock of my life and I'm happy to say that I'm very pleased with the life I have. I have an amazing husband who is currently in his 2nd year of nursing school and I couldn't be more proud of him.

I've started training for a 10K run that is happening in June, and I've never run before in my life, so yes, it is a pretty big deal for me. I'll be starting week 10 of my training tomorrow, so I'll let you know how that goes.

Since this is just my first post, I'll end it here. I should really try to save some thoughts for future posts.

  1. I think those cyclists just get bored if they have to bike alone for a long time, but I think they should go single file when passing. Silly people. My trainer rode up behind me on the Goose while I was running today, but he was riding by himself because nobody can keep up with him. I was jealous of his sweet bike.

Are you doing a 10K clinic? Is it the Goddess Run? I'm going to do a 10K in April, but I haven't decided which one yet. If you want to run with a fun group, there's a group of us (#yyjrunclub on twitter) that meet at 9:30am every Saturday outside Starbucks in Vic West. We usually run about 5K or 30 minutes or so and then have coffee after. I'm not going to be there this week because I have a 5K race on Sunday, but I'm usually there. Have fun with your training! I bet you're in great shape from all the other stuff you do.

  2. Hi Lara, I'm using a 10K trainer app on my iPod. I find that the times for the running clinics don't work with my schedule and my app didn't cost me anything. Yes, I'm doing the Goddess Run. Thanks for the invite of letting me run with you, but I'm going to wait until I'm finished the 14 week training program before I start running with other people. I'm halfway through week 10 now, so it won't be too much longer and then I'll do a 10K run each week and that's when I'll start running with others.

Thanks for the kind words. Congratulations to you on all of your training!
